The Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique lessons give the pupil the stimulus and training to become conscious of movement habits and to distinguish between necessary and unnecessary effort. This guidance is directly transferable to the activities of everyday life.

It will allow you to breathe and act more easily. It is a dynamic learning activity, designed to help you move better whatever your activity, not as is often mistakenly thought, a means of holding a good posture.

‘When an investigation comes to be made, it will be found that everything

we are doing in this work is exactly what is being done in nature where the

conditions are right; the difference being that we are learning to do it consciously’

F M Alexander

is a scientifically and medically validated method of learning how to re-educate yourself into a balanced physical and mental wellbeing. The Technique makes no claim to cure ailments directly, but as they gain a better general standard of health, improved muscle tone and better co-ordination and clarity in the central nervous system, Alexander pupils usually feel better and in many cases symptoms that have been distressing them disappear or are lessened.
